Stanley Consumer Storage 014725M 25 Compartment Professional Organizer
Customer Review: It works as designed!
It kept things in their own compartments well. We used one for beads, and they stayed in place even when I shaked it up-side-down. We are going to buy 2 more.

Customer Review: Stanley 25 Compartment Organizer - Great Product
Stanley Consumer Storage 014725M 25 Compartment Professional Organizer

The Stanley Professional Organizer is a great product. This 25 compartment model has a variety of different sized compartments, including several sizes smaller than the one included with the 8 compartment model Stanley Consumer Storage 014708R 8 Compartment Deep Professional Organizer. They are both great.

This one is a little better for storage of smaller quantities of small parts. If you need to store larger pieces or need bins for large nubmbers of similar items (such as nails) you really should get the 8 compartment model instead. That goes as well for people using this for tech part storage.

I have plumber friends that also use this to store fittings. Just about every pro or hobbiest could find a use for this. In fact, there’s probably a million uses, and depending on your needs the other styles may suit you. All of these are really good so you can’t miss.

Love the durable feel, much better than most flimsy organizers I have tried. The compartments are all seperate, much better than the Workforce organizer which only has flimsy tabs seperating the areas.

I hope Stanley expands to this line of organizers because they are all really good.

Definitely try this.

Enjoy!

This model plane does not fly. Its two propellers do not have enough power. We tried every possible way to fly it, including having it on full power, then hold it, run and throw it from a hill top. It simply falls to the ground.

Customer Review: Nice vibration feature!
I love this feature! The only reason I gave it 4 star instead of 5 is because the battery cannot last for a long time.

Customer Review: Good controller, but won’t vibrate to all
This controller is my controller of choice when I play PS3 games now. Good controller with a good feel (bit heavier than the non-dualshock), but suits me just fine. I was expecting that all my games would now have the vibrating effect, but found out that it is only for some. But, it’s still no problem. Good product and glad I bought it.

Building and Flying Rubber Band-Powered Airplanes
List Price: $10.95
Used Price: $4.00
Customer Review: It brought back Memories.
First it started with simple Balsa wood flyers, then they got better as the designs got more complex. Most were flyable, some nose dived as soon as they were let go. With an adjustment or two - it would fly. I spent many hours winding the prop again and again to see what would happen next. With another adjustment, another flight pattern would take place. No two flights were the same. With a better or stronger rubber-band flights would get longer.

Black & Decker AAW100 8-Inch Auto Wrench Adjusting Wrench

Black & Decker AAW100 8-Inch Auto Wrench Adjusting Wrench
Manually adjusting a wrench to fit particular nuts and bolts can be a real hassle, especially in tight spaces. Enter Black & Decker’s battery-powered Auto Wrench, a phenomenally handy tool that opens and closes with the push of a button. Boasting 220 foot-pounds of torque, this wrench is powerful enough to handle most household tasks, from car repair to fixing leaks.

The Auto Wrench is not meant to replace specialty tools like pipe or torque wrenches, but the jaws open wide enough (up to 1-1/4-inch) so that it could conceivably replace a range of manual wrenches sitting in your toolkit. This is an ideal product for someone looking to buy a wrench that’s both easy to use and versatile. At 8-inches, you could toss it in the silverware drawer and whip it out when you need it.

The area where this wrench really shines is in hard-to-reach spots where mobility is obscured, such as under sinks. A typical situation where the Auto Wrench would help might be one in which you’re awkwardly reaching for a nut underneath the kitchen faucet. With a comparable manual wrench, it’s conceivable you would fumble around with the adjusting mechanism for minutes on end, and then toss a fit. With the Auto Wrench, you’d simply press a button (positioned where you rest your thumb) and the jaws would open or close to your specifications.

We were a bit skeptical when we learned the Auto Wrench takes AA batteries and doesn’t include a rechargeable battery. This means you’ll need to keep some extra batteries around the house - or buy some rechargeable batteries — if you use it frequently. However, the wrench isn’t a power hog by any means. Black & Decker says you can get 650 cycles out of two AA batteries, which should be plenty for most people.

Customer Review: An amazing wrench
I was surprised at some of the negative comments about this wrench. First of all, it seems to me to be as effective as the equivalent manually adjustable “crescent” wrench — with the emphasis on adjustable. There are some rare times when an adjustable wrench won’t do and an exactly size open end wrench from a set of wrenches may be necessary. In those cases, this wrench won’t do the trick any more than a manually adjustable crescent wrench will.

But lets talk of the 97.98% of cases where an adjustable open-end wrench is just what is wanted and needed. Here’s one that adds something useful — it adjusts wider and narrower at the touch of a button. Well, a spring-loaded momentary-on rocker switch, actually. Convenient for your thumb — doesn’t matter whether you’re right-handed or left-handed — there’s this rocker switch. Press one end of the switch and the wrench width opens up. Press the other end and it closes up. It doesn’t take much practice to get the hang of it, and in an instant you can resize the wrench to fit your application.

My first use the other day involved replacing the fill-valve inside my toilet tank. Where I needed a wrench was to loosen the supply tube’s hex nut — you know the one, it holds the bottom end of the water supply tube to the shut-off valve that comes out of the wall below the tank. I also needed it to tighten the same nut when I installed the new tube. It did the job admirably. Yes, my old manually adjustable crescent wrench would have worked, but that takes a bit more effort to get the wrench jaws to the right diameter. With this battery-operated wrench, the adjustment was performed in an instant with the push of the rocker switch with my thumb, and without trial and error.

I’ll be using this wrench a lot in the future, no doubt about it.

Yes, the grip is a bit bulkier because of the rubber coated battery compartment that forms the grip on the handle, and the handle is a bit wider than a manually adjustable wrench. But it was actually more comfortable for me, perhaps because I have fairly large hands. (I suspect that people with small hands might find a manually adjustable wrench with a slimmer handle better for them.)

Anyway, the other thing is, this is a fun wrench to use, too, a nice toy for people who do handy things. Well worth the $24 and change, I find.

Customer Review: Nice idea, not a durable tool.
Got one for Christmas, used it for one project, installing gas lines in the basement. Wrench fell off the ladder and that was it, no more auto wrench.

The good part, returned this to a B&D store, they sent me 3 wrenches as a replacment.

I’ll be more careful with the replacements, but, this is not a regular tool, have to be careful with it.

I would not have bought this myself, nothing beats a good Craftsman open end wrench. I’ll find a use for it.

A Letter from Brian Selznick

Dear readers,

When I was a kid, two of my favorite books were by an amazing man named Remy Charlip. Fortunately and Thirteen fascinated me in part because, in both books, the very act of turning the pages plays a pivotal role in telling the story. Each turn reveals something new in a way that builds on the image on the previous page. Now that I’m an illustrator myself, I’ve often thought about this dramatic storytelling device and all of its creative possibilities.

My new book, The Invention of Hugo Cabret, is a 550 page novel in words and pictures. But unlike most novels, the images in my new book don’t just illustrate the story; they help tell it. I’ve used the lessons I learned from Remy Charlip and other masters of the picture book to create something that is not a exactly a novel, not quite a picture book, not really a graphic novel, or a flip book or a movie, but a combination of all these things.

I began thinking about this book ten years ago after seeing some of the magical films of Georges M?li?s, the father of science-fiction movies. But it wasn’t until I read a book called Edison’s Eve: The Quest for Mechanical Life by Gaby Woods that my story began to come into focus. I discovered that M?li?s had a collection of mechanical, wind-up figures (called automata) that were donated to a museum, but which were later destroyed and thrown away. Instantly, I imagined a boy discovering these broken, rusty machines in the garbage, stealing one and attempting to fix it. At that moment, Hugo Cabret was born.

A few years ago, I had the honor of meeting Remy Charlip, and I’m proud to say that we’ve become friends. Last December he was asking me what I was working on, and as I was describing this book to him, I realized that Remy looks exactly like Georges M?li?s. I excitedly asked him to pose as the character in my book, and fortunately, he said yes. So every time you see M?li?s in The Invention of Hugo Cabret, the person you are really looking at is my dear friend Remy Charlip, who continues to inspire everyone who has the great pleasure of knowing him or seeing his work.

Paris in the 1930’s, a thief, a broken machine, a strange girl, a mean old man, and the secrets that tie them all together… Welcome to The Invention of Hugo Cabret.

Yours,

Brian Selznick

Brian Selznick on a “Deleted Scene” from The Invention of Hugo Cabret

This is a finished drawing that I had to cut from The Invention of Hugo Cabret. I was still rewriting the book when I had to begin the final art. There was originally a scene in the story where this character, Etienne, is working in a camera shop. On one of my research trips to Paris I spent an entire day visiting old camera shops and photographing cameras from the 1930’s and earlier, as well as the facades of the shops themselves. I researched original French camera posters and made sure that the counter and the shelves were accurate to the time period. I did all the drawings in the book at 1/4 scale, so they were very small and I often had to use a magnifying glass to help me see what I was drawing. After I finished this drawing I continued to rewrite, and for various reasons I realized that I needed to move this scene from the camera shop to the French Film Academy, which meant that I had to cut this picture. I tried really hard to find ANOTHER moment when I could have Etienne in a camera shop, but, as painful as it was, I knew the picture had to go. I’m glad to see it up on the Amazon website because otherwise no one would have ever seen all those tiny cameras I researched and drew so carefully!

The Boy of a Thousand Faces

Customer Review: Bravo!
There was a frequent segue phrase used on Monty Python’s Flying Circus: “And now, for something completely different . . .,” and I feel like that this book fits that perfectly.

On one level, this is basically a mystery story about a twelve-year-old orphan boy, Hugo Cabret, who lives in a Paris train station in about 1930. As the story progresses, we discover, gradually, the secrets that led to him living alone and secretively in the train station, where he keeps all the clocks working well and on time. We also discover the secrets behind the lives of the old man who runs the toy shop in the station, Papa Georges, and of his goddaughter, Isabelle, and to a lesser extent, Hugo’s new friend, the one-eyed man named Etienne. Their secrets are interwoven, and the connecting and discovery of those secrets will have an impact on Parisian culture. What does the story have to do with magic, illusion, clock-making, complex mechanics, and the early history of film-making? Everything!

The story itself is done well, with interesting characters, a breath-taking pace, and a good degree of plot complexity, especially with how the secrets are gradually uncovered, and have fascinating interconnections and ramifications that stretch well beyond the characters. However, that is not what makes this book stand out.

What does move this book into the category of “And now, for something completely different?” The format! By topical genre, this book is a mystery, aimed at ages six to ninety-six, but the format, or presentation, is something I have never seen before. I have read books where illustrations are an important adjunct to the text. A good example is How to Keep Dinosaurs by Robert Mash. I have read good graphic novels, with The Hedge Knight - Second Edition [Graphic Novel] by George R.R. Martin being a prime example. The Asterix and Obelix books are good examples of comic books with enough mature connotations and subtexts that they appeal to some adults. I have not yet read, or viewed, The Arrival by Shaun Tan, which is a virtually textless tales of the struggles of an immigrant adjusting to a new culture, but The Invention of Hugo Cabret is not that, either, as text is an integral part of the story.

The Invention of Hugo Cabret is something else, yet again. Of its 525 pages, roughly 300 pages are beautiful illustrations, mainly complex, detailed pencil drawings by the author, Brian Selznick. Mr. Selznick was an illustrator before he became an author, and his skill and love for the visual medium sings loudly and clearly in this work of art. A typical sequence features a series of sequential drawings, perhaps covering seven or eight pages, presenting a key piece of the story, followed by an interlude of two to four pages of text, that often features dialogue and background history, presented by one or more of the characters, as they pry at, and unearth, and unravel each other’s interrelated secrets. Even the paper speaks of the author’s love of art, as it is all wood-free, woven paper, that is heavy and semi-glossy in texture. I would love to stroll throw a museum with this story, presented large, displayed upon the walls, probably underground, with dark and light areas, illumination-wise, and the hallways twisting and turning. If it were presented that way, many visitors would end up running through, as they get entranced by, and caught up in, this well-told story of tragedy, buried history, and triumph. They would want to devour it as fast as possible, and then run right back through.

– Chris McCallister, author of Coming Full Circle

Customer Review: Beautiful Pictures
I loved this book. The pictures were beautiful and the text was also good. I liked the way this book was mainly in picture format with some text here and there - to me it was a refreshing way to read a book.

There are also many different ways to interpret the pictures. If you take out all the text, the pictures could become a totally different story. I showed this book to one of my friends and he interpreted the story in a completely new and hilarious way.

Customer Review: Sandisk Sansa charger
It really works. I wish my MP3 player had come equipped with it when I bought it, but at that point the only way to charge it was via computer. This is a great improvement at a very affordable price.

Customer Review: Great price!!
You can’t go wrong with this charger for the price. It charges faster then pluging into your PC. What else do you need?

Customer Review: This book is far too old
This book was published in the early 1990s and is a collection of articles from Model Airplane News from the previous several years. As such, it’s woefully out of date. If you’re new to radio control aircraft, buy one of the many newer books on the market. Much, much, much has changed in the past 3-5 years, particularly related to electric motor flight, foam models (as opposed to balsa and ply), ready-to-fly (everything in one box–airplane, transmitter, onboard electronics, and only 30 minutes assembly time), newer stabilizing and control surfaces (winglets on sailplanes, for example), microelectronics, computer radios (transmitters), quantum leaps in battery technology (lithium polymer), etc. The field has changed. This book hasn’t.
Customer Review: Kool Pages!
I’d like to say that this book is an oppurtunity for those who don’t know modeling to start and perhaps be a professional. But it’s good for the experienced ones cos’ it has lots’a challenges for new building experiences…

This twentieth installment in the popular LOCK ON series focuses on the lines and details of the USN A-6E, KA-6D Intruder, and EA-6B Prowler built by Grumman. Stunning full color photography captures such details as the cockpits, landing gear, airframe, engines, wing-folds, flaps, slats, external tanks and pods, air brakes, and general carrier operations of this aging but potent aircraft. This book belongs in the collections of scale modelers, aviation enthusiasts, and USN veterans.

Customer Review: INTRUDE UPON THE INTRUDER/PROWL AROUND THE PROWLER
Having thoroughly enjoyed Lock On #16 (Mi-24W HIND E Gunship), I decided to check out the rest of the series to see if they had any of my other favorite aircraft. To my delight, Willy Peeters has done one on the A-6 Intruder. This book is a great 36 page full color tour of the interior and exterior of the A-6 (Intruder/Prowler). It’s a welcome addition to Lou Drendel’s A-6 Intruder Walk Around (Squadron/Signal Publication) which, itself, contains a fair number of color photos (rare for a S/S book). Peeters does an excellent job of explaining what it is you’re looking at in each of the captions. A solid installment to this impressive series.

Sweatin’ to the Oldies 2: An Aerobic Concert with Richard Simmons
Customer Review: Did not enjoy this workout….
I do acknowledge that a lot of people enjoy this series of tapes/dvds and have lost weight using them, but I did not enjoy this workout. I have some of his other tapes (not in the Sweatin to the Oldies series) that I like much better!

Customer Review: Sweatin to the Oldies 2
This just happens to be one of my favorite workout tapes. While moving, I ordered this one since mine was stored. The seller was great. Shipped fast, communicated well, and sent a quality product.

    Customer Review: disappointment
I purchased this as a chiristmas present and the plane broke on it’s “maiden voyage.” My husband and son were very disappointed. The plane can not be controlled once it starts nose diving. You can only turn it right or left. Not worth the money nor your time.
    Customer Review: Great Price…takes punishment
This is the second RC airplane I have purchased. The first one was a complete disaster but I wanted to give flying toys another chance. The controls are very easy. Fast, slow, left, right… thats about it. I don’t think this plane is able to take off from the ground, I think it’s too light. So my first try hand launching I followed the instructions in the box, so I launched with props at full power. This caused the plane to go straight up in the air and then nose dive. So you need to launch at slower prop speed and gradually increase your altitude. This plane can not handle the slightest wind… my day was very light winds and it still caused it to turn hard from the wind. It survives the little crashes great. I crashed over and over without any problems except for the battery case coming off the bottom. I found that clear packing tape worked much better than the supplied plastic piece. The nose cone is durable foam which holds up great, however, if you nose dive too hard, you can break/crack the nose area made out of styrofoam. After I got it home, I was able to reconstruct it back to health just fine. The thing I love most about this plane is the 5 minute charge time… AND all you do is plug the battery into the back of the handheld controller, thats it, no electricity needed!!!! You just can’t beat that, period. RC planes, cars, boats… I’ve owned them all. Up until this baby, my fastest charge time was 30 minutes and that needed to be plugged into the wall. So, if you are in a field and the battery dies, sit down, have a snack for 5 minutes and your up and running again. Also, the battery lasted for a good twenty minutes of flying. I’m not sure why another review said it doesn’t last long enough, especially when you can charge up again in 5 minutes. All and all, this is an excellent toy that can’t be beat for the value. It’s currently going on amazon for $47.95 but when I bought it, it was a different seller going for $29. I would suggest shopping around online until you find the price that works for you. Even at $50, I would still recommend this product. Happy Flying

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland
Imaginatively rendered but slightly chilly, this 1951 Disney adaptation of the Lewis Carroll classic is also appropriately surreal. Alice (voiced by Kathryn Beaumont) has all the anticipated experiences: shrinking and growing, meeting the White Rabbit, having tea with the Mad Hatter, etc. Characterization is very strong, and the Disney team worked hard to bring screen personality to Carroll’s eccentric creations. For a Disney film, however, it seems more the self-satisfied sum of its inventiveness than a truly engaging experience. –Tom Keogh

Customer Review: DISNEY ON DRUGS: “ALICE” IS AN ENTERTAINING, BUT NEVER COHESIVE, MIXED BAG
The two DVD set of “Alice In Wonderland” (1951) comes fully loaded with diverting “extras.” Yet nothing can disguise the fact that Walt Disney was clueless in terms of the story, and how to successfully adapt it to the animated film medium. Disney’s most offbeat cartoon feature is a disconnected hodgepodge of episodes from Lewis Carroll’s original book and its sequel “Through The Looking-Glass.” It’s all very, and strangely, entertaining, but it is never cohesive. Paramount’s 1933 live-action B&W “Alice In Wonderland” (unavailable) also combines episodes from both books, but is much more faithful to Carroll. What went wrong here? Perhaps the story is just too odd and cold– and not nearly as warm or inviting or emotionally involving as MGM’s 1939 Classic “The Wizard Of Oz.” But I think it has more to do with the fact that every Disney animated film,– from “Snow White” to “Cinderella”, to “Alice In Wonderland” to “Peter Pan” and beyond– forces the original story to undergo a process I’ve come to call “Disneyfication.” With “Alice”, critics seriously grumbled for the first time, but certainly not the last time, that Disney was violating classic literature. The same charge was also brought against the “Disneyfication” of “Peter Pan”– although “Peter Pan” is a slightly more successful adaptation.

As for the DVD Extras: Two vintage TV programs show Kathryn Beaumont, the excellent voice and model for Alice, in full costume and character, and a deleted song details the close connection between “Alice” and “Peter Pan.” Beaumont was also the voice and model for Wendy in “Peter Pan.” Forget the kids; there are kicks galore for adults here. The overall DVD package is a loopy mixed bag filled with not-so-subtextual drug references. A lot of others– Lewis Carroll, Disney and his Staff– obviously ate and drank strange stuff along with Alice.

Customer Review: Alice in Wonderland special edition
I just loved watching this special edition for it was in perfect condition. This brought back memories of watching such a classic

Customer Review: Awesome airplanes
I stumbled across this book in a local library a few years ago in the oragami section and was intrigued. I had tried making accurate flight-capable airplanes before, but with little success. The simple approach that Schmidt uses makes the building process enjoyable, and while the planes produced are reward in themselves, the fact that they actually fly enhances the experience. While the planes aren’t super-realistic, they are a definate change of pace from simple folding and precision cutting and bending. While the intended age range encompasses mostly grade/middleschoolers, the young at heart will still find enjoyment by adding details to the planes and having realitsic (paper) jet fighter strikes against their coworkers. This book is definately for anoyne with a passion for flying and/or folding.
Customer Review: Complicated planes made easy
We have checked this book out of our local library four times and renewed it several more times than that. It has many different planes from simple and easy to fold, to the more complicated bi-plane and even a Boeing 747. They all look remarkably realistic and to-scale when done carefully. Scissors, ruler, and glue are necessary besides, of course, paper. We need our own copy for my airplane-loving son.
